Full-Time, Mental Health Rehabilitative Specialist for our Short-term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). This position will work directly with the clients in the home and community settings (where appropriate) to help in the implementation of the clients clinical service plan and its interventions for the regulation of coping skills, learning of appropriate social skills, etc. Duties will include working one-on-one with clients, coordinating with the treatment team, providing collateral services, writing progress notes and inputting them into the county electronic health record (EHR) CERNER. This will require training in CERNER and the ability to pass the writing portion of the staff requirements. Essential Job Functions: Knowledge of current issues/trends in the field of Counseling Psychology, Social work. A thorough understanding of emotional/behavioral disorders and the familial and community implications. Develop effective and meaningful relationships with children Identify mental health needs in clients and have the ability to work with them to overcome deficits or mental health concerns. Crisis intervention and de-escalation of clients in a trauma informed and therapeutically appropriate way. Ability to model, coach, direct and train others. Strong documentation and professional skills. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks within specific timeframes. Ability to work harmoniously with others. Physical, mental, and emotional health adequate to perform duties. Physical capability to restrain children, lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activity including various sports, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc. A genuine caring for emotionally/behaviorally disturbed children. Possess knowledge and adhere to all applicable legal, contractual, and ethical issues. Ability to work effectively with cultural/ethnic diversity. Ability to work at various community locations, including school, potential placements, biological family homes, community settings, etc. Sound personal qualifications (i.e. maturity, stability, high moral standards and sound mental health). Responsibilities: Clinical Work with clients on established mental health goals through direct service, collateral or modeling and training Provide direct rehabilitative services to clients. Provide case management for clients as needed. Provide group, individual, family, and collateral rehab services for clients and Direct Care staff under the supervision of the clinician or Head of Service. Participate in CFTs, treatment meetings, collateral or consultations for clients under their direct care. Keep comprehensive progress notes which meet standards for Stanislaus County department of mental health. Maintain timelines for progress notes and other necessary documentation, which should be submitted to the Head of Service for review. Collect outcome data and consumer satisfaction data as required by the agency and contractor. Crisis Management. Joint Commission Requirements: Responsible for preventing and controlling infection. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention. Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide. (not just children). Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or intervention. Properly administer medication for the therapeutic treatment of clients. Other: Attend all required meetings. Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Other duties as assigned.
