Principal Financial Analyst - CVG Controllership (Finance)

In this exciting position you will report to the CVG Controller and be an integral member of the Cardiac and Vascular Group (CVG) Controller's staff. You will provide leadership and expertise in the accounting and finance activities associated with complex matters, including, but not limited to business development and strategy-related matters. You will support, advise and influence business partners by building relationships at all levels within the organization and present complex matters to management in an easy-to-understand manner.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Act as the primary business partner, financial expert and CVG Controllership liaison for CVG Business Development and CVG Strategy teams. This will include assessing potential CVG Business Development and Strategy activities (e.g. Acquisitions, divestitures, agent/distributor terminations, minority investments, etc.) to identify and effectively communicate financial considerations, financial ramifications and potential alternatives to business partners and senior CVG leadership. Attend CVG BD Board monthly meetings.
Critically review and resolve questions relating to the complex accounting (valuations, purchase price allocations, opening balance sheets and/or minority investment accounting) established by Corporate Finance relating to business combinations, asset acquisitions and minority investments. Integrate the post-acquisition accounting for intangible assets (definite and indefinite-lived), goodwill, contingent consideration and minority investments into existing processes. This includes fair value measurements of contingent consideration, impairment analysis and monitoring impairments risks (IPR&D & minority investments) for the business.
Effectively present the related complex technical accounting matters to CVG leadership in a clear and concise manner and provide value-added input.
Continue development of a playbook to assist and provide Finance Business partners advice on the finance related integration activities for acquisitions, including educating Finance Business partners on best practices and advise finance integration teams on areas of risk in existing plans.
Business partner with CVG Business Development to understand the minority investment objectives, assess the financial implications, alternatives and advise business development, management and leadership in a clear and concise manner regarding options and risks.
Business partner with a function, provide analytical and financial insight. Monitor and assess the financial impact of complicated litigation.
Lead and manage various special projects which will include a variety of initiatives based on the need of the business. This will include, but not be limited to, the continued integration of certain legacy businesses into MDT and other continuous improvement initiatives. Special projects will require creative thinking to resolve complex issues.
Perform the accounting and reporting associated with certain complex transactions, including highly complicated royalty arrangements.
Provide work-direction and coaching to Financial Analysts.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with 7+ years of work experience in finance or accounting (5+ years with an Advanced degree)
