Legal Assistant (Legal)



The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to provide legal department matters management and administrative support. This position is located at our Corporate Office in St. Louis, MO.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain legal department files and Access databases. Assist with tracking and reporting on matter statuses, documents filed, and garnishments. Monitor legal dept. mail\email.
  • Assist with document collections, drafting, and tracking legal hold notices and record review\coding.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation, tracking, and organization of board minutes and resolutions.
  • Track, process, and report on dept. accounts payable, POs, and insurance reimbursements. Assist with tracking budget expenditures and updating budget forecasts.
  • Provide administrative support including scanning of records and department calendar\docket. Assist with company record retention program.
  • Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Education & Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of legal assistant experience.
  • Experience in budget administration preferred.
  • Associate's degree in relevant field preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  •  Proficient with software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Access, Excel (must be able to create

    spreadsheets, formulas, and validate data), and OneNote.

  • Proficient with Adobe Acrobat Professional.

  • Basic knowledge of SharePoint and ERP (PeopleSoft).

Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements: 

  • Regularly required to use a computer and phone.
  • General office environment, but occasionally requires working in confined spaces and wet, humid conditions (non-weather). Rarely requires working in extreme cold (non-weather).
  • Regularly requires sitting, hearing, feeling attributes of objects, grasping, and repetitive movement. Frequently requires talking. Occasionally requires reaching with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Rarely requires pushing, standing, walking, driving, climbing or balancing, moving up and down from/to a sitting position on the floor. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and the ability to read and write.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 5 pounds. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift up to 75 pounds.
