Biological Science Laboratory Technician II (Finance)



Overview

SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, safety conscious, experienced, Biological Science Laboratory Tech to work full time for SJS in Tacoma, WA to help support operations at a US Army Medical facility.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Biological Science Laboratory Technician II will be responsible for providing experimental and technical support for clinical and translational research protocols using a variety of standardized and specialized laboratory procedures involving biobanking and a diverse array of biological research techniques and equipment platforms.

The Biological Science Laboratory Technician II must possess these key qualifications to be eligible for this job:

  • A Baccalaureate degree in science related background; and
  • 4+ years' experience working in a research or clinical laboratory; and
  • Experience in bench-top biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology research techniques involving animal models preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience or knowledge in clinical automation systems as required such as, Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), GENESIS Electronic medical Record, Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical Human Resource System - internet (DMHRSi).

    This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include:

    • Shall perform laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support the investigation; carries out routine tasks accurately, ensuring compliance with the research protocol(s).
    • Shall assists with specimen preparation and storage; orders supplies and equipment for the investigation, ensuring that the laboratory is adequately stocked at all times.
    • Shall conduct literature searches; and thoroughly and accurately documents all techniques and research protocols used and the results obtained.
    • Shall abide by all clinical standards, rules, and procedures including requirements for licensure, credentialing, and quality assurance programs
    • Use of clinical automation systems as required such as, Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), GENESIS Electronic medical Record, Ambulatory Data System (ADS), and Defense Medical Human Resource System

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • A not employ any individual to provide direct healthcare services who is listed on the Health and Human Services (HHS) list of providers excluded from federally funded healthcare programs.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough and enunciate with sufficient clarity to effectively communicate with patients, various Health Care Providers (HCPs), and Investigators
    • Possess sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills, and social sensitivity such that employees can relate to a variety of staff/patients from diverse backgrounds.
    • Possession of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) required training for the position, and that training currency is maintained.
    • Baccalaureate degree in science related background
    • 4+ years' experience working in a research or clinical laboratory
    • Experience in bench-top biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology research techniques involving animal models preferred.
    • A general physical examination prior to commencement of services at the Contractor's cost. Ten calendar days before beginning services under this contract,
    • U.S. Citizen
    • High School Diploma OR GED Required
    • Completed a primary series of immunization with tetanus and diphtheria toxoids and that a booster dose is current (within the past 10 years).
    • A test for immunity to the hepatitis (Type B) virus with documentation of the results.
    • Serologic evidence of immunity to measles and rubella or documentation of immunization with measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
    • Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
