HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE:Full-Time, hourly position; May include some nights and weekends

POSITION OVERVIEW:
As the Community Engagement Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA.This position is responsible for facilitating and leading resident, volunteer, and donor involvement and relationship building and providing a deeper connection to the mission and cause of the YMCA of Greater Des Moines as it relates to the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Create and plan program activities.Develop and implement promotion plan to advertise program.Manage and coordinate program activities.Recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers.Prepare reports and rosters using computer information.Develop and implement evaluation plan to learn results of program.Know emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them to others.Respond to questions and concerns of program participants.Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.Demonstrate an ability to participate in kitchen and food related opportunities.Ability to communicate with a Y-voice, demonstrating determination, genuine concern, a welcoming attitude, hopefulness and a nurturing spirit.Ability to demonstrate a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs.Ability to build rapport, create relationships, and foster a sense of community.Ability to work effectively with people of different background, abilities, opinions and perceptions.Ability to listen first, seeking to understand the other persons point of view and remain calm in challenging situations.Ability to accurately assess personal feeling, strengths and limitations and how they impact relationships.Ability to demonstrate and openness to change and seek opportunities in the change process.Ability to embrace new approaches and discover ideas to create a better volunteer experience.Ability to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for residents and volunteers.Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative to assist in developing others.Ability to make sound judgments and transfer learning from one situation to another.Ability to create a work and member atmosphere reflecting the Y values.Ability to maintain confidentiality on resident and potential resident information.Ability to demonstrate professional conduct at all times.Attend trainings and/or courses to maintain certification as required by the YMCA.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to tenants and staff.Employees of the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus are not eligible to become residents at the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus.Residents of the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus are not eligible for employment with the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus branch during their time of residency.
