We are looking for a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded marketing and communications leader with deep experience. The Vice President of Marketing & Communications is part of the CNF “Leadership” Team & is responsible for increasing CNF awareness in terms of resources and programming, connecting with more communities, supporting innovation, expanding partnerships with other groups working in the neurologic space, and investing in our internal resources. This position organically aligns with the innovative, professional, collaborative stewardship that is CNF. We are looking for a person who thinks creatively, is excited by huge growth, and who can help take CNF to the next level. Prior experience in the non-profit sector is not essential, but an awesome track record of achievement is.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Strategy Development •Develop strategic marketing plans to support the organization's mission, goals and objectives, including positioning, and market and competitive analysis •Create and execute innovative marketing and public relations strategies, including both traditional and social media •Leverage emerging digital marketing strategies to further organizational objectives •Help develop metrics through which other departments can gauge the success of their efforts (e.g. Programs' videos, toolkits, etc.) •Collaborate with the Development, Operations, and Programming teams to create comprehensive business / action plans •Direct market research activities to keep abreast of changing demographics and other relevant factors and to monitor emerging issues •Prepare statistical and descriptive reports on the Department's goals and performance using agreed upon KPIs (including pertinent digital media metrics)
Marketing, Communications, Campaign and Project Management •Oversee communication, marketing, advertising, and promotional activities through the research, planning, implementation, and evaluation of integrated, data/insights driven communications plans that deliver business objectives in alignment with the strategic plan •Oversee Marketing and Communications team ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and meet objectives outlined by Leadership Team and other key stakeholders •Responsible for identifying emerging industry trends and new channels for reaching target audiences •Develop marketing communication campaigns incorporating all appropriate channels, including (but not limited to) print and digital advertising, email, web, newsletters, social media, and publications •Create digital or marketing strategies along with an understanding of the technologies and tactics needed for execution
Website, Data, and Analysis •Lead and oversee the organization's ongoing website development (design, optimization, etc.) •Oversee SEO, Google Ad Word grants, and Google Analytics •Analyze and utilize audience data, database workflows, and multiple channels to deliver comprehensive messaging
Leadership •Responsible for direct employee supervision which includes the selection, training, performance management. •Source and manage the use of vendors to support and further extend the resources of the Marketing and Communications Department (e.g., public relations firms, advertising and marketing agencies, printers, among others). •Responsible for all marketing and communications work generated by the department •Responsible for the effective operations of the marketing and communications function of CNF, including departmental budgeting and planning
Strategic Communications and Organizational Messaging •Oversee all communications created by the organization, maintaining a cohesive brand, look and tone •Manage all brand activities, providing guidance to staff on key messages and other organizational communications •Create a robust advertising, public, and media relations presence including establishing media relationships, developing features and stories, and delivering messaging to diverse audiences. •Provide effective marketing support for development and fundraising efforts

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: •Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field of study is required; advanced degree preferred •Equivalent combination of years of additional experience beyond the minimum requirement and/or education may be substituted for degree requirement
Experience: •Minimum of ten years of experience in a senior management role, holding progressively responsible positions in marketing and communications •Ability to interface and communicate with a variety of audiences, both internal and external •Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the credibility and poise to present to a wide range of stakeholders •Proven success at developing, analyzing, and implementing traditional media strategies, as well as digital marketing and social media strategies, to enhance visibility, engagement and loyalty •Extensive experience analyzing both traditional and social media metrics •Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and results •Experience building, leading and mentoring a team of marketing and communications specialists •Superior management skills, including the ability to advocate for and manage to budget priorities •Presence and confidence to project credibility to staff, senior leaders, Board of Directors, media, and stakeholders •Self-reliant, problem solver and results oriented •Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle pressure and meet deadlines •Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) with solid understanding of key marketing and communication tools (e.g. Web Content Management Systems, email systems, Google Analytics and other web metrics, Adobe Creative Suite, among others), and knowledge of databases such as eTapestry, Sales Force, Raisers Edge is preferred.

ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION: FLSA Classification: Exempt Travel Requirements: Some travel required – approximately 10%. Ability to legally travel outside of the United States, particularly but not limited to Canada Location: Lexington, KY Schedule: Occasional evenings and weekends required Physical Requirements: Standard office setting, with ability to sit for long periods of time, occasional use of stairs; regular use of computer and office equipment.
