Human Resources Consultant (Education)
Position Summary
Employers Council is seeking a Human Resources (“HR”) Consultant to join our team. We partner with employers to grow exceptional, dynamic workplaces by offering a comprehensive set of services.
The ideal HR Consultant brings practical, solutions-driven counseling expertise with a strong client-service-oriented approach. This includes managing multiple priorities, navigating ambiguity in Human Resources practices, processes & procedures, and applying sound judgment. The HR Consultant should demonstrate a solid understanding of key Human Resources disciplines and best practices, including, but not limited to, benefits, total rewards, staffing, onboarding, employee relations, compensation planning, HR policy, employee handbook reviews, organizational development, performance management and termination review and procedures.

Salary - $93,300 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Technical Expertise
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions, and collaborate with team staff attorneys, as necessary.
- Continually develop knowledge depth and proficiency in various HR disciplines such as benefits, compensation, organizational development, to provide members with exceptional human resources consultative support.
- Recommend and draft articles and other content to be published in internal and external publications focused on developing members' HR expertise and drive member engagement.
- Create and update various member resources including white papers, sample policies, agreements, template webinars, and website blog articles.
Member Engagement:
- Stay informed and current with all Employers Council member services, training schedules and course offerings, customized services membership website offerings, and internal operations to relay information to members or potential members to enhance member engagement and connection.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with members by meeting in-person and virtually to orient and reinforce the benefits of membership, while instilling confidence in Employers Council's diverse human resource expertise.
- Lead HR Business Partner meetings with new members, including completing the New Member Assessment process and timely following up on identified service needs and support requests.
- Enhance current member engagement by conducting additional assessments and strategy/priorities meetings throughout their membership year to bolster member engagement and awareness of fee-based services.
Member Service:
- Provide HR advice, counsel, and recommendations to members via phone, email, web-based, or in person on a wide variety of HR related topics impacting employer day-to-day operations.
- Engage with members to understand their immediate HR needs while proactively identifying opportunities for broader strategic support. Collaborate with members to identify additional areas where Employers Council can add value and present options for expanded support.
- Review and recommend changes, amendments, and/or improvements to member documents including employee handbooks and policy manuals, compensation plans, performance appraisal forms, and other HR-related documents.
- Manage assigned member work and participate in identifying usage patterns, low utilization of hours, or recent changes to business that could indicate potential opportunities for use of Employers Council services or lead to cancellation of membership.
Training and Presentations:
- Prepare multi-media training materials and conduct interactive training classes at Employers Council offices or at member locations on a wide variety of HR related topics via both in-classroom and e-learning methodologies.
- Review course offerings and update classes and materials as needed.
- Continually review and maintain competency in all HR courses offered by Employers Council.
- Propose and deliver presentations/speeches to community/industry groups on HR related topics to audiences ranging in size from a handful to a few hundred or more.
- Recommend and develop new classes, programs, and other materials or ideas to meet members' current and anticipated HR needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Education
Listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability required.
- Experience in multiple human resources disciplines such as benefits, total rewards, staffing, onboarding, employee relations, compensation planning, HR policy, employee handbook reviews, organizational development, and performance management including termination review and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources (or closely related field) or equivalent 5-7 years HR work experience.
- Certification as a PHR, SPHR and/or GPHR, CEBS or willingness to obtain is preferred but not required.
- Additional certifications from the IFEBP, World at Work, or the American Payroll Association are desired.
- Demonstrated ability to: speak and write clearly and persuasively in sometimes challenging situations; deliver HR-related content in a classroom, online, or conference setting.
- Demonstrated ability to: analyze and solve complex problems; effectively listen, seek clarification, and provide concrete and clear advice.
- Demonstrated experience: drafting and reviewing handbook policies or workplace policies and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail; ability to work independently and execute plans to meet employers' needs; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness and ability to build and maintain positive and strong relationships with members.
- Proficient in word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software (E.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).
- Must reside in Colorado within commuting distance of 1290 Broadway, Denver CO.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Must have reliable personal transportation, with ability to travel as needed.
