PMG Nursing Supervisor, Full-Time Mon-Friday, no weekends or hoildays (Media)



SUMMARY

The Phelps Medical Group (PMG) Nursing Supervisor supports the in general nursing staff supervision and departmental administration duties. This working supervisor in the clinic setting manages, organizes and administers nursing care for patients of all ages under the supervision of the Physician. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

1. Collaborates with Director of PMG to create solutions to identified needs.

2. Provides feedback to Director of PMG in regards to competency and skill assessments of Nursing staff.

3. Coordinates monthly clinic nursing staff schedules and manages time off requests to ensure adequate staffing for clinics.

4. Assists with hiring of PMG clinic nursing staff.

5. Completes orientation and training of PMG clinic nursing staff.

6. Oversees monthly completion of all nursing logs, drug orders, vaccines, EOC rounds and supply inventory. Responsible for department-specific quality initiatives that impact patient outcomes.

7. Collaborates with the Director of PMG to evaluate, plan, and implement action items requested by contractual arrangements with various insurance payers. Including, but not limited to, Pay for Performance, Patient Centered Medical Home, and Quality Improvement Plans. This will require thoughtful analysis, utilization of Microsoft Office, and access to secure websites for submission of data.
8. Assesses data regarding the patients physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs based upon the patients age and development, for patients of all ages.

9. Record and analyze patient medical histories, symptoms and conditions. Reports and documents all observed symptoms, reactions and changes in the patients condition.

10. Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.

11. Utilizes the nursing process to direct and deliver patient care. Develops, implements, revises and evaluates a formal plan of care with the help of other healthcare professionals.

12. Administers medications and treatments using the Five Rights of Medication Administration.

13. Provides and instructs patients and/or their families with educational information appropriate for age and learning abilities.

14. Document and review actions as needed with Director of PMG to maintain continuity among the nursing team.

15. Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.

16. Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families and visitors.

17. Organizes and prioritizes daily assignments to provide optimal patient care.

18. Demonstrates competency annually in assigned areas of work.

19. Complies with PMHC Code of Conduct.

20. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports directly to the Director of PMG.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

1. Bachelors degree (BSN), Associates degree (ADN) or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.

COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.
2. Current BLS/CPR certification.
