Creative Director - Corporate (Media)



Hornblower is looking for a Creative Director to lead our in-house Creative Team. This position will manage designers and copywriters for the development of projects, as well as project management for implementation and delivery of work. We're looking for an experienced manager with adept interpersonal and leadership skills who can inspire others (but still get his/her hands dirty), bring a mix of marketing expertise and business understanding to the position, and elevate our creative work to reflect a company that is growing to a global leader in Experiences and Transportation.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, high stress environment and prioritize work with minimal guidance 
  • Able to provide creative direction, guidance, and leadership across marketing and product touchpoints to a team of designers, copywriters, and project managers.
  • Superb attention to details across many disciplines — writing, design, video, art direction, digital, etc. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to communicate large design strategies and ideas, presenting work to stakeholders, executives, and large groups 
  • Provide leadership and support for a team of graphic designers, copywriter(s), content creator(s), contractors, and external agencies in the strategic development of creative deliverables 
  • Prioritize work and resources across engagements based on changing priorities and corporate goals, establishing production schedules by collaborating with designers and copywriter(s)   
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with creative team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actionable initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner 
  • Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring deliverables that effectively address project goals and challenges 
  • Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for visually sophisticated audiences 
  • Collaborate with analytics team to assess the impact of all design and usability changes 
  • Concept and manage the development of design libraries and systems with adherence to product branding requirements 
  • Design, build, and maintain an Agile project management system used by the Corporate Marketing Team 
  • Maintain, enhance, and develop processes that keep the team working efficiently 
  • Manage and develop a team, offering stretch assignments and opportunities for professional development
  • Additional job duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 10 years of related experience with 3+ years of creative management in agency or corporate setting 
  • Experience creating marketing campaigns from developing vision and the messaging to overseeing production on time and budget 
  • An understanding of, and past experience with creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, mobile, and print 
  • Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives 
  • Expert knowledge of visual design principles and techniques 
  • Strong team management skills 
  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard design and prototyping software 
  • Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript 
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, design, or related field or equivalent experience 
  • Prior experience with copywriting, design, or production 
  • Prior project management experience, with a focus on creative direction
