Sr Staff Technical Program Manager (Finance)

Summary:

Dexcom is searching for a Sr. Staff Project/Program Manager to drive development of high-impact product development initiatives in the Continious Glucose Monitoring (CGM) space. A successful candidate has a proven ability to lead a diverse, cross functional, team through the various product development stages in the Med Tech, IVD or related field and has honed an ability to influence, and resolve competing priorities at various levels in a growing business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Leads cross functional teams through a medical device product development lifecycle (from concept to FDA filing and subsequent commercialization).
  • Leads the team through Phase Gate and other Go/No-Go decisions by executive leadership, ensuring that decisions are informed by a balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data.
  • Responsible for synthesizing the project work breakdown structures, schedules and project risk into an integrated plan. Leads the cross functional development of product architecture for each functional area, synthesizes functional plans and identifies critical interdependencies to drive successful execution of the overall project.
  • Manages the roles, responsibilities, goals and deliverables for core and extended team members and partner with functional leaders to ensure appropriate Core Team resources are setup for success and delivering on objectives.
  • Defines, plans, and manages program resources through partnership with functional managers.
  • Create and foster team dynamics for high performance

Business and Financial Acumen
  • Ensures alignment of product value proposition and business objectives to the project scope and plan
  • Leads program planning process ensuring marketing and product requirements are driven by customer needs.
  • Accountable for developing and managing to a project budget including capital expenditure, expenses and headcount.
  • Links project goals and objectives to commercial and financial outcomes

  • Critically thinks about the big picture and generates novel ideas for defining, implementing and bringing to market new products, technologies and services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to lead cross functional teams through a medical device product development lifecycle. Requires a thorough understanding of all functional work streams in a phase gate process and ability to distill functional complexities into an integrated project vision and plan.
  • Requires a highly motivated and customer-centric leader who thrives in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong horizontal and vertical communicator. Represents self and program with an executive presence. Must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills along with effective meeting management and group facilitation abilities.
  • Demonstrates a high level of business acumen integrated across finance, marketing, sales, service, R&D and manufacturing.
  • Experience leading hardware development teams, including Electrical, Mechanical, Embedded software and Enterprise Software solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence people and teams at all levels without direct authority.
  • Proven success building employee engagement; creating, communicating and building understanding of a shared vision.
  • Demonstrated analytical, decision making, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflicts and ambiguity to drive clarity and deliver results.
  • Demonstrated results and solutions-orientation as achieved through optimized processes and flawless execution.
  • Ability to champion and execute customer-centric approaches, ideas, methods, and processes.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Minimally requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 12+ years relevant experience in new product development within the regulated medical industry.
  • Advanced (ie Masters, PhD) degree in relevant technical discipline preferred
  • Experience and a track record of developing and launching novel medical products
  • Experience in Med Tech, IVD or Pharmaceutical industries developing electromechanical devices and software systems is required
  • Proficiency with typical Project management and collaboration tools preferred (eg MS Project, Confluence/Jira, etc.)

Functional Description: Technical Individual Contributors

Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services. Oversees multiple interconnected, complex projects, coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, and focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products. Monitors the program from initiation through commercialization including planning and directing schedules and monitoring budget/spending to ensure successful program outcomes. May develop, define and execute project plans, identify resources, define and assign major roles, and interface with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed.

Functional/Business Knowledge:

  • Possesses expert knowledge of leading technical areas.
  • May be externally recognized as an expert in technical field.

Scope:

  • High level of understanding of solving unique problems where analysis requires an in‐depth evaluation and may impact future concepts or technologies.

Judgement:

  • Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Demonstrates ability to discover and identify processes, novel science and technology which lead to increased productivity and results.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master's degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience of a PhD and 5+ years of experience.
