Commercial Analyst (Power/NatGas) (R&D)

• Timely and accurate deal entry and deal reconciliation which requires extreme attention to detail


• Intra-day PnL and position reconciliation for the power and nat gas desks


• Ability to work under pressure in decisively resolving real-time issues


• Ability to manage communications, priority and expectations with traders, operators and management


• Strong working relationship and communications with other internal departments


• Continued development of Program enhancement and/or process improvements


• Use software platforms, custom analytical models and industry standard techniques to identify trading and investment opportunities and risks in the U.S., Mexico, and Canadian power and nat gas markets


• Maintain, enhance, and monitor analytical models and applications that are fundamental to the formulation of investment strategies related to complex global energy commodities marketing and trading scenarios


• Other duties as assigned

• 1-2 Years Energy Experience (preferably in Power and/or Gas)


• Deal entry and/or deal reconciliation


• Understanding of both physical and financial natural gas and power products


• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and VBA is required; Programming ability in Python, R, or other languages are a plus


• Analytical understanding and support
  
  • Wholesale power & gas fundamentals (Research, Analysis & Support) – generation, load, weather, fuels, transmission, gas flows, pipeline outages, etc.
    
    • Ability to build and maintain daily, weekly and monthly analysis reports for the traders
    
    
    • Ability to build and maintain tools that capture, analyze and display time-sensitive data to traders and effectively work with IT to accomplish needs
    
    
  
  


• Other development capabilities are a plus


• Energy asset valuation and deal structuring experience are a plus
