Nurse Manager (Healthcare)



SUMMARY:

The Nurse Manager is a key member of the leadership team of the health center. He/she works closely with the Director of Nursing to plan and implement activities related to nursing. He/she helps to manage all facets of nursing care at the center, including outlining the nursing role in care delivery; standardization of nursing practice across the organization through policies, procedures and standardized orientation and training; and oversight of all nursing and medical assistant operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works with Director of Nursing to determine the optimal allocation of staff, per shift on each unit.
  2. Assists in survey compliance, quality assurance and staff development duties, as assigned.
  3. Maintains proficiency with the computer scheduling system. Assists with scheduling as assigned.
  4. Provides clinical expertise in medical management, crisis and behavior management techniques.
  5. Meets routinely with the clinical groups.
  6. Assists with the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures.
  7. Serves and/or leads committees, as assigned, including, but not limited to, quality assurance/quality improvement, employee health, infection control, and safety.
  8. Assists in the supervision of nursing and medical assistant functions throughout the health center.
  9. Leads the planning and implementation of DotHouse Health's employee health program, in collaboration with clinical, operations, human resources and departmental leadership including, but not limited to,  pre-employment testing and vaccination processes; annual tuberculosis infection screening; employee influenza immunization and other required vaccinations for existing employees; management of blood and other potentially infectious disease exposures; and infection control procedures.
  10. Works with the Chief Medical Officer and Office of Compliance to maintain and to develop DotHouse Health policies and procedures related to infection control.
  11. Supports administration of employee health databases, including maintenance of complete and accurate employee health records.
  12. Works with Director of Nursing to ensure required maintenance of nursing and medical assistant competencies and to meet new and existing training needs. Works with the Director of Nursing to ensure all regulatory, licensure and accreditation standards related to nursing and assists in communication of changes to nursing and medical assistant staff.
  13. Provides clinical nursing services as assigned.
  14. Works in a confidential capacity.
  15. Performs other duties as needed.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Master's Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare required.
  • Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of one year Ambulatory Care experience.
  • Minimum of one year Emergency/Urgent Care experience.
  • Bilingual Candidates are highly encouraged to apply

Certification/Licensure:  Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current BLS certification.

Software/Hardware: Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
