Wastewater Environmental Technician (Finance)



The Environmental/Wastewater Specialist reports to the Sr. Leader, Environmental Health & Safety, and is responsible for supporting environmental and wastewater programs at Pacific Cast Technologies, and ensuring compliance to environmental regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Supports Environment Health & Safety leadership in the development and continuous improvement of Environmental Programs including, but not limited to Hazardous Waste, Fire Marshall, Spill Team(s), MSDSOnline (chemical inventories), Opacity Training and Air Program.
  • Deploys continuous improvement tools to develop and/or improve standards for new and current regulations and processes.
  • Coordinates training and development within the plant for Environmental Compliance; Maintenance, Shipping (DOT), Wastewater, Invest, and new employee training.
  • As a functional expert, assists in root cause and corrective action problem-solving.
  • Identifies and provides department skill gaps to improve productivity.
  • Develops and performs audits to measure environmental compliance and improvements.
  • Measures improvement of operator inspection quality and productivity through practical guidance and coaching.
  • Acts as Environmental/Wastewater Trainer and as back-up to wastewater responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities typically required to perform the essential functions of this job:

Knowledge Of:

• Wastewater treatment, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations, tools and techniques, as well as inspection techniques.

• Waste and water collection systems.

• Spill clean-up/management.

• Mechanical and electronic tracing (signals, commands, etc.).

• The relationship between the Wastewater Treatment System process and the control system functionality and logic.

Skilled In:

• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Ability To:

• Perform effectively in a team environment.

• Interpret and apply environmental regulations.

Education, Certifications and Experience:

• At least two years of combined experience in wastewater and environmental roles.

• Associate of Science degree in Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Experience and knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Overtime may be required.

• May be assigned to any shift, including day shift, swing shift, weekend shift and graveyard shift.

• Flexibility relative to shift times may be required.

• Full face respirator, safety glasses, boots, gloves and other PPE are required in specified areas of the plant.
