Sr. Server Engineer- Retail Systems (Information Technology)

Join the Retail Infrastructure Engineering team! As a Senior Server Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, developing, maintaining, and advising on the effective use of Publix Technology architecture to maximize its value within our Retail stores and lab environments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, develop, and implement core platform technologies in the retail environment to ensure security and stability.
  • Manage retail systems running the Windows Server and Linux operating systems to include build processes so servers remain on supported versions.
  • Maintain hardware running Microsoft Hyper-V, performing maintenance, environment expansions, and hardware lifecycles to ensure environments have adequate capacity and remain on supported platforms.
  • Provide support and consultation to retail application teams to facilitate system improvements.
  • Provide primary point of escalation for incidents and problems affecting retail server and platform environments focused on restoring service and identifying root cause.
  • Analyze, develop, and implement tools and processes to remediate issues to prevent recurrence and reduce toil.

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, Computer Science, Business or an analytical discipline, or equivalent experience,
  • 2+ years of experience implementing, supporting, converting, and upgrading Windows Server operating systems and related infrastructure software and hardware in a medium (50+) to large (500+) environment,
  • 2+ years of experience with Hyper-V, VMM or virtualization technologies,
  • 2+ years of experience with server hardware and out of band management,
  • 2+ year of experience with PowerShell or shell scripting languages,
  • Experience with deploying software via enterprise systems management tools,
  • Experience with Active Directory group policy,
  • Experience with automation and development operations.
  • 4+ years of experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting large releases,
  • 2+ years of experience implementing, supporting, converting, and upgrading Linux operating systems (RHEL and SUSE), and related infrastructure software and hardware in a medium (50+) to large (500+) environment,
  • Experience leading medium to large projects from requirements through implementation,
  • Experience implementing, supporting, and migrating Windows Server operating systems to include 2016, 2019 and 2022,
  • Experience creating, managing, and updating server images, ISOs, clones, and templates,
  • Experience with Operating System Deployment using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and SCCM,
  • Experience with various Microsoft System Center products to include App Controller, Configuration Manager, Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager, etc.
