Engage in the development, planning, and implementation of employee relations policies and procedures. Perform various employee relations duties, including employee counseling, conducting exit interviews and ensuring overall HR compliance. Partner with HRBPs to investigate employee complaints and disputes and recommend corrective action. Educate new and current leaders on employee relations issues. Work closely with HRBP's and the Director of Employee Relations to ensure risks related to employment practices are mitigated.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the investigations of employee complaints and disputes and recommends corrective action.
Resolves employee relations issues through a systematic approach.
Advises and ensures appropriate documentation is developed. Serves as first line of defense to mitigate risk for HR-related issues for the organization. Ensures all issues are resolved in a legal and ethical manner that is in line with our corporate values.
Partners with HR Business Partners to ensure consistent employee relations policies throughout the enterprise, and as necessary on complex employee relations issues. Partners with leaders to create and administer Performance Improvement Plans.
Assists in conducting investigations regarding violations of Company policies and responds to complaints made to the compliance hotline
Conducts exit interviews. Forms and analyzes data for trends
Coordinates responses with HR Leadership, General Counsel and outside legal representatives on employment related complaints filed with state and federal agencies.
D rives policy development. R eviews employee policies and procedures in employee handbooks and recommend enhancements . Ensures handbooks are developed and implemented as necessary. Ensures appropriate consistency across handbooks as Vertex expands globally.
Partners with the training and recruiting teams to ensure training and development and recruiting practices reflect corporate policies and employment law compliance
Keep abreast on new or pending employment legislation and ensure Vertex is in compliance
Other duties and projects as assigned
Manages coordination of Vertex Visa program in connection with Outside Counsel
Work with Director of Employee Relations and HRBP's on projects

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or Psychology, or equivalent work experience, is required.
SHRM/HRCI Certification preferred
5 years experience as a human resources generalist is required.
Experience handling employee relations issues is preferred.
Basic understanding of and/or experience in compensation, benefits and recruiting is required
