Learning Development Specialist (Education)
Position Title: Learning & Development Specialist
Department: Learning & Development
Position Reports to: Director of Learning & Development
Position Supervises: No Direct Reports
Works with business partners to understand developmental needs of the target audience and then designs and delivers learning in a variety of methods including in-person, virtual, eLearning, and video. Demonstrate and implement our Trusted Advisor strategy to all internal and external customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Partner with subject matter experts to identify communication and learning needs and goals
• Create learning objectives, design documents, storyboards, and other learning design and communication deliverables to optimize knowledge transfer and application
• Deliver desired learning outcomes by ensuring content clear, concise, and understandable
• Develop engaging, multi-media learning across a variety of audiences and delivery methods (ex. instructor-led, self-led, in-person, virtual, e-learning, etc.)
• Design effective training and learning experiences that are aligned to the organizational vision and strategy
• Apply relevant trends and best practices in adult learning theory and instructional design
• Update and refining existing learning content, and recommending different design applications and layouts that would improve the learner experience
• Review and approve instructional design
• Oversee, direct, and provide coaching for instructional design activities happening within Learning & Development. Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
• Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
• Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
• Instruct engaging and effective learning sessions for both group and individual learning
• Identify changes in the learning and professional development environments and evaluate and adjusts the departmental plans and processes accordingly. Participate on project teams
• Complete other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's Degree in Training and Development, Human Resources, or a related field required.
• 5+ years experience in instructional design and with instructional design technology
• Banking and/or insurance experience preferred
• Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
• Lesson and curriculum planning skills
• eLearning authoring ability
• Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
• Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
• Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools
• Willingness to keep abreast of new techniques in corporate learning
• Proficient in MS Office
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Responsible for knowing and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, as detailed in policies that include but are not limited to Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering rules, Right to Financial Privacy, Fair Lending, Community Reinvestment Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations as they pertain to the position.
This job operates in a professional office environment. Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Some travel is required to deliver training within the markets we serve.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak or hear, stand or sit for long periods of time, open filing cabinets, walk, stoop or bend, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and complete tasks requiring manual dexterity. Ability to drive a vehicle for travel is required for the position.
