Job: Site Technical Manager

The Site Technical Manager has responsibility for managing and improving operational risks, equipment reliability and system integrity through the leadership of Maintenance and Engineering resources across the site. The Technical Manager creates a culture of ownership and capability at the site and delivers results through aligned strategies and tool implementation. The Technical Manager leads a team of 8-11 direct reports which may include Maintenance & Utilities Techs, MRO/OVS Associates, Maintenance Planners, and Site Project Engineers. This position is a key senior member of the Site Leadership Team.

In addition, this role is expected to demonstrate total site technical leadership. Leading and coaching within the technical team and across value streams within the factory. Ensuring that consistent factory and regional technical strategies and capability building are active within the site. Demonstrating and representing the MARS 5 Principles on a daily basis.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3 years related experience in a CPG manufacturing environment or similar industry. Experience must include manufacturing-based maintenance and engineering with project/systems emphasis.
  • In-depth understanding of maintenance and engineering principals
  • Team management experience
  • Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in the following areas:
    • Theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations
    • Continuous improvement techniques
    • Problem solving and analytical methods
    • Process measurement and control
    • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects/initiatives within budget

Preferred Requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's in engineering or technical related field
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Process) certification
  • Maintenance and/or Engineering Leadership experience
  • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) type experience with emphasis on PM (Progress Maintenance) and EM (Early Management) pillar leadership
  • Knowledge of technical disciplines: Process, Packaging or Electrical/Controls

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • The development and delivery of multi-year technical plans (maintenance and engineering strategy) to execute and deliver critical KPI's for Supply Chain/Operations.
  • Owning the site execution of the Asset Health Check process as a part of the regional team, including annual auditing, mitigation planning, prioritization, and roadmap development.
  • Development and delivery of site minor and value leadership projects to scope, timing, budget, and FAA forecast.
  • Driving the utilization of the Engineering Work Process at their site, as well as the facilitation of the site periodic project review meeting and representing the site at the regional periodic project review.
  • Driving the site safety culture and ensuring adherence to project and construction safety standards for all activities at their site.
  • Engagement, collaboration, and alignment with regional and global engineering leadership on technology standards and scoping of large or complex projects.
  • Being the primary engineering point of contact for the development and delivery of the site master plan.
  • Leading and facilitating the Progressive Maintenance Pillar
  • Management of all utilities and site-based engineering (internal and regional MARS engineers). Manages proactive maintenance and controls at site. Provides leadership and coaching to shift/reactive maintenance teams.
  • Technical asset management from early equipment management, project management (i.e. design, installation, vertical start-up), optimization, maintenance, and retirement.
  • The delivery of new product technical initiatives at the site to meet business needs.
  • Ensure compliance to MARS standards related to technical job function of site.
  • Manage maintenance costs to ensure the budgeting process is accurate and the department meets the business requirements.
  • Develop and sustain maintenance predictive technology strategies to provide a proactive maintenance culture.
  • Active and contributing member of the Mars Wrigley Confectionery Americas Regional Technical Manager Community of Practice (CoP) by sharing expertise / information, development and implementation of regional best practices and standards.
  • Maintenance and Engineering team engagement and associate development.
