AVP, Ceded Reinsurance Collections (Finance)

The AVP, Ceded Reinsurance Collections is responsible for the timely collection of outstanding reinsurance billings on Chubb's legacy portfolio.      The claims are long-tail casualty exposure claims, predominantly asbestos (and other mass tort), environmental, and molestation.  The AVP may manage other staff, including reinsurance analysts or accountants.  The AVP Ceded Reinsurance Collections reports to the VP, Ceded Reinsurance Collections.

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely collection of ceded reinsurance billings across the broad portfolio of legacy casualty business managed by Brandywine
  • Monitor current and aging reinsurance balances, develop and implement collection strategies
  • Track and respond to reinsurer queries
  • Arrange and lead market meetings to follow-up on outstanding balances and address questions through face-to-face interaction
• Develop, and present to management, strategies for resolution of disputed claims through dispute management process
  • Evaluate reinsurance contract wordings, facts and applicable law
  • Negotiate and settle disputed billings
• Oversee disputes in arbitration/litigation/mediation, and manage outside counsel in co-ordination with in-house legal group
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports
• Assist with management of year-end Schedule F process

• Law degree and 5+ years of practice in insurance or reinsurance coverage or 4-year college degree and 7+ years' experience with insurance or reinsurance claims and contract analysis

• Experience with long-tail casualty claims/claims-handling

• Strong analytical skills

• Experience in negotiating disputed claims to final resolution
