DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
GBH Technology supports a diverse community of GBH'ers working in Broadcasting, Content Creation, Education, Digital, Assistive Technologies, Local News and Administrative roles. Roughly 40 staff work in 6 teams within the Department and the team is committed to creative problem solving and respectful candor. We like to build, improve, launch, automate and repair.
The Media Access Group at GBH (MAG) creates closed captions, subtitles and audio description for a variety of media clients, including PBS, commercial television networks, feature film studios and streaming entertainment platforms. As a wholly owned operating division of WGBH Educational Foundation, The Media Access Group has been a pioneer in making media accessible for people with sensory disabilities since 1975. Today, MAG continues to be an industry leader partnering with the top content distributors, television networks and producers in the world.
JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Technology and working closely with the Managing Director of the Media Access Group and the Director of The Media Access Group - LA, the Technology Operations Lead is responsible for all technology operations of MAG including locations in Burbank CA and Boston MA. The Technology Operations Lead is responsible for troubleshooting and resolutions of hardware, software, and network issues as well as providing level 2 support for applications, operating system and hardware problems when issues are escalated from our End User Support team. The Technology Operations Lead receives issues from our ticketing system, JIRA, and leverage partnerships with business units as well as system and network administrators to resolve issues. The role supports teams on both the East and West coast and schedule flexibility to meet production needs is necessary. The typical hours will follow the Burbank CA location business hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support MAG production hardware, software and scheduling technologies including Burbank recording studios.
Support all MAG Data IO resources and the management of digital assets.
Manage GBH and vendor content security policies to insure compliance.
Identify and implement emerging technologies for next-gen closed captioning and audio description platforms.
SKILL SET
The ideal candidate will work well across teams, has a proven track record of growing their skill set and understanding the complexities of a large environment.
This person can complete technical projects and is able to dive deeply into a system to optimize or troubleshoot as necessary.
Experience with writing and deploying low code.
Understanding of AWS offerings and experience with creating AWS workflows.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
Basic Scripting PowerShell/python.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
3 to 5 years' experience.
