The BANQUET COOK'S 1 essential purpose is to prepare food for special events, banquets, employee meals, meeting hotel standards of production quality and quantity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: English fluency required. Spanish fluency helpful. Must have advanced knowledge of production and operations in all kitchen areas. Must be familiar with proper use and maintenance of relevant kitchen equipment and machinery. Hotel banquet experience of minimum 3 years and professional culinary certification or degree preferred. Familiar with OSHA, local Department of Health regulations and Covid protocols. Food handler's card required upon hire.
SKILLS AND APTITUDES: Detail oriented. Organized and efficient. Learns quickly. Safety-minded. High quality standards for production and service. Courteous and friendly manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable. Strong verbal communication skills.
WORKING ENVIROMENT: Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays is required. Works both indoors and out, depending upon service needs. Business levels may require fast work pace. Indoors: clean, well-lighted area. Frequently works behind hot ranges. Makes frequent short trips to refrigerator, freezer, and storeroom. Kitchen may be moist, warm, and odorous from cooking foods. Kitchen floor may be slippery from moisture and grease. Outdoors: exposed to outdoor temperature variation. Bi-level structure.
