Winter Dispatcher Winter 24/25 (Manufacturing)



SUMMARY
The Dispatcher is responsible for the accurate logging, coordination, and dissemination of current information between the various Mountain Operations Department and other departments as required using telephone, Two-way radio, and electronic communication. This role will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining risk management strategies to identify and mitigate potential risk to GTR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Coordinate and communicate lift, Park Status, Trail openings and closures and Mountain traffic to Ski Patrol departments in the Corporation as needed. Maintain continuous communication with these throughout the day via telephone, radio, and electronic communication.
2. Maintain logs & summarize reports for Lift/Park/Trail closures.
3. Notify Company through network and text messaging systems of Mountain Status changes and emergencies. As well as electronic signboards and website.
4. Coordinate weather/wind or other pertinent information to all company departments as needed.
5. Maintain all logs & records of any communications made (time, date, department, person notified, message) for lift & Mountain operations, other departments, or as required/requested.
6. Provide centralized command post for all communication during such emergencies: assist in assigning personnel and equipment, record time and all communications pertaining to the emergency.
7. Assist Mountain Patrol and Ski Patrol with mountain duties as needed.
8. Conducting risk assessments: Identifying and assessing potential risks across an organization, including financial, operational, and strategic risks.
9. Developing risk management strategies: Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate potential risks, including risk avoidance, risk reduction, risk transfer, and risk acceptance.
10. Monitoring risk management activities: Monitoring and reviewing risk management processes and procedures to ensure they are effective in mitigating risks.
11. Training staff: Providing training to staff on risk management processes and procedures to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities in managing risks.
12. Reporting on risk management activities: Reporting on risk management activities to Human Resources Director, Mountain Operations Director, and General Manager to ensure that they are aware of the risks facing the organization and the measures being taken to mitigate them.
13. Ensuring compliance: Ensuring that the organization is complying with relevant regulations and standards related to risk management.
14. Continuously improving risk management processes: Continuously evaluating and improving risk management processes and procedures to ensure that they remain effective in managing risks.
15. Assist Security in documentation, incident reporting, investigations, dispatching.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
5. Skies within ability level, taking safe and direct routes of travel. Follows Skier's Responsibility Code.
6. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
7. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have demonstrated leadership qualities, communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Good communication skills, ability to train, coordinate and oversee the work of others.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School or GED (General Education Degree) diploma or equivalent number of years of experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 1 year Dispatch experience.
CPR/First Aid certifications a plus.
Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) Certification

LANGUAGE SKILLS
High level of communication with coworkers and resort guests. Greet customers congenially and answer various questions about ski trails, weather and snow conditions, lift schedules and riding time, and general information about the resort and area. Read and understand manuals, safety signs, machinery control labels, warning placards and indicator panels as printed.

REASONING ABILITY
Requires efficient problem-solving skills. Receives instruction/advice from the Mountain Patrol Manager for daily tasks. Needs to take the initiative and go out in the field and perform tasks. High independence but keeps the Mountain Patrol Manager informed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor office environment, utilizing computer, two-way radio, and telephone equipment.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen, primarily on the phone and a two-way radio. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger and type and reach with hands and arms. This is sedentary work that requires close visual acuity to view a computer terminal.
