TEMP Designer (Creative Design)
SUMMARY
The Temp Designer will be responsible for the entire design process of product lines for all seasons.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work cross functionally with design, sourcing, merchandising and sales to ensure product is right for client's needs and hits target price points
Work with Merchandising/(Design Assistant/Associate) to request and track protos and SMS
Prepare presentation boards, line sheets and tech packs (design callouts, construction and specs) on product for SMU & Private Label area
Partner with and direct CAD designer on print needs for the area
Work directly with overseas offices and mills for fabric research and development needs, comments & approvals
Partner with sourcing on garment cost, and provide ideas to reduce cost when needed (cost engineering)
Negotiate trims costs with vendors/suppliers
Shop stores regularly to be aware of emerging trends and competitive assortments
Attend and present in sales meetings with key accounts to hear first hand the buyer's reaction to product and feedback given in order to better understand needs
Provide fit comments on pre-showroom samples and attend fittings on bulk production styles
Create presentation boards for print, color and concept for each season to aid the sales team during market week and other buyer appointments
Can do simple CAD work: recoloring of prints and filling sketches in Illustrator for presentations
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Strong Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator knowledge, and PLM experience preferred
Working Knowledge of Google applications/Drive (E-mail, presentations, folders, etc.)
Ability to design around concepts with a strong sense of style and color
Ability to design within the target cost
Work well with others and independently to meet short deadlines and project needs
Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills
Knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, color, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery and trim
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
College degree in Fashion Design or related field
Five or more years of design experience
