Project Execution Manager I - Distribution (Finance)

Minnesota Power is looking for a Project Execution Manager I to join its Distribution Engineering team to lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of projects related to electric distribution systems. This role will develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations, in addition to ensuring compliance with safety codes, environmental regulations, and utility standards. The individual that joins this team will conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and resolve issues, as well as provide regular updates on project status, risks, and performance metrics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides project management leadership to project groups under close-to-moderate supervision.
  • Leads, develops, coordinates project planning, resourcing, staffing, supply and subcontract management, progress reporting, troubleshooting and people management.
  • Ensures project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule, and cost.
  • Monitors performance and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions.
  • Takes responsibility for a portfolio of electric utility infrastructure projects.
  • May lead independent or bundled projects and on-site construction oversight.
  • Manages a variety of construction and professional services contracts.
  • An employee in this position is developing knowledge of the organization, processes, best practices, and customers while producing possible solutions.
  • Mitigate risk by identifying potential project setbacks and opportunities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), or other relevant Project Management Institute (PMI) certification program, is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Two years or more of experience in project management, project development, engineering, construction, and/or a related field required.
  • Electric utility, infrastructure, or industrial fields experience is preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Travel is occasionally required within Minnesota Power service territory, Northwest Wisconsin, and North Dakota.
  • Requires decisive decision-making skills, knowledge, and experience in own discipline while still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively build and maintain internal and external working relationships.
  • Analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills.
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
  • The expected annual compensation range for this position is $65,000-$82,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
