Environmental Systems Engineer (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an engineer with relevant experience and a background in the field of operation, maintenance, and monitoring of environmental remedial or similar systems. We are looking for a task-oriented candidate with strong organizational and communication skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic team environment. The successful candidate will work alongside Scientists & Engineers, Project Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse set of remedial operation sites and re-design projects. In addition, you will have the opportunity to be an active member of the project management teams on these projects.

This position requires both office and field work; the successful candidate should expect to be out in the field up to 25% of the time performing engineering tasks. Field work may be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.

Multiple hires will be made from the following regions: Gulf Coast, St. Louis area, & Mid Atlantic (NJ).

Role accountabilities:
  • Assisting operations and maintenance technicians read, interpret, and understand mechanical, electrical and computer engineering technical documents.
  • Assist project teams in identifying solutions to operational hurdles
  • Providing technical analysis and support to a variety of projects for public and private sector clients
  • Assisting in the field with inspections, conducting pilots and full-scale remedial efforts, and participating in face-to-face client, technical, and other stakeholder meetings
  • Coordinating work schedules with Arcadis field staff and subcontractors
  • Communicating with vendors on behalf of the project team
  • Working effectively with local, national, and global technical and client teams
  • Ensuring field personnel are properly prepared and equipped for field work
  • Health and safety stewardship, including local field visits
  • Actively communicating with project teams, and other stakeholders
  • Client and regulatory correspondence, in coordination with project managers as appropriate
  • Technical report review, in coordination with a team of senior experts as appropriate
  • May require some regional travel for field visits
Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or closely related field
  • Basic to advanced understanding of mechanical, electrical and computer engineering disciplines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training
  • NFPA-70E Certified
  • 1-2 years of relative experience
