Training & Development Manager (Project Management)



Role: Responsible for overseeing the credit union's training program. Creates, coordinates and conducts employee training. Monitors all training received by employees and ensures that training is administrated in a fair and equitable manner. Maintains a cohesive, highly trained and motivated staff, sufficient to meet daily department demands. 

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 
35% Plan, develop and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as but not limited to classroom training, demonstrations, eLearning, on-the-job training, meetings, side by sides, and workshops.
25% Oversees new employee orientation sessions and on-the-job training, including use of computers, software, refresher and upgrading training.
20% Develops and maintains a well-trained and qualified staff. Evaluate employee performance periodically meeting with staff and reviewing the performance and areas of improvement. Tracks the progress of trainees through routine tests, observation, and feedback from supervisors; evaluates the effectiveness of the current training.
10% Keeps informed and is proficient about all products offered to members, latest techniques and versions of software. Keeps informed of latest changes in consumer protection laws, current CU policies, guidelines and procedures and rates. Keeps up to date on new legislation and regulations pertaining to CU products and services.
5% Develops the annual budget for the department and reviews expenditures through the year.
5% Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.
Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field).

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills: Must have a valid driver's license and able to operate a motor vehicle. Demonstrated knowledge of all products and core processing system to be taught to employees. Above average of working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems. Demonstrated excellence in member service and ability to maintain confidentially. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to prioritize several projects at once. Willingness to work flexible hours possibly to include weekends or after business hours training classes. Possess above average time management, organizational, multi-tasking, and interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral. Experience in public speaking. Ability to initiate the “fun factor” while training employees. Possess an upbeat and positive attitude. Patience and empathy for employees in training. A professional, business appearance is required.
