Team Leader Information Security - Endpoint (Finance)



Overview

We are seeking a full-time Team Leader - Cyber Endpoint Engineering in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of cybersecurity engineers supporting security services for endpoints, email, and network services. This role will provide technical and strategic guidance, ensure operational excellence, and foster collaboration across security and business teams. The Team Lead is expected to drive projects and initiatives that enhance security capabilities, reduce risk, and increase team efficiencies through mentoring, tool and service ownership, and strategic planning.

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team responsible for implementation, operation, support, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity tools, including EDR platforms, email security suites, DNS security, PAM solutions, enterprise password management, forensic platforms, and threat intelligence tools.

  • Serve as a technical and operational escalation point for the Cyber Endpoint team, ensuring timely resolution of complex security issues and support requests.
  • Drive partnership with IT and business stakeholders to ensure secure configurations, proactive threat management, and compliance with security policies.
  • Own and manage tool roadmaps and vendor relationships; evaluate and recommend enhancements to optimize coverage and reduce risk exposure.
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels within the organization to mitigate cyber security risks in the environment.
  • Monitor progress of the team in meeting deliverables and schedule compliance.
  • Oversee automation opportunities and scripting efforts owned by senior staff to reduce toil and improve efficiency across the team's platforms.
  • Manage expenses, participate in budgeting process, and manage vendor relationships for any software or tools owned by the team in alignment with manager and director.
  • Stay current on security threats, mitigations, technologies, and services.
  • Provide relevant and accurate metrics using industry and Garmin standards of cyber threats
  • Develop, document, and assess operational runbooks in response to security related incidents.
  • Assess technical skillset of the Endpoint team. Develop and execute a training plan and promote continuous learning across the team.
  • Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and psychological safety where team members feel empowered to speak up and contribute.
  • Assist with technical compliance with SOX, PCI, TISAX, and other regulations that apply to Garmin's business segments.
  • Drive the reduction of manual work, quality improvements, and enhanced user experience using scripting and automation.
  • Provide significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities.
  • Build and maintain a high performing team by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent.
  • Promote team member engagement and effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals.
  • Develop and manage team and individual performance and capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas where improvement is needed while ensuring that all organizational objectives are met.
  • Demonstrate ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuous education.
  • Accept, develop, and execute projects and other miscellaneous IT & Security duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant years of experience
  • Highly proficient in endpoint detection and response (EDR/XDR), email security services, privileged access management, network access security services, event logs and other security tools.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others.
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems.
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization.
  • Previous experience in management or leadership.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise IT services such as networking, storage, operating systems (Windows, Mac, and Linux), and databases.
