If you are an HVAC/R professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH locations, you will work directly with Research and Materials Engineering and in collaboration with Air Conditioning and Cold Chain Engineering to build, test, evaluate, and enhance prototype HVAC/R systems and system components in our Labs. You will use technical expertise to assess new technologies and competitive products. You will also provide technical insights to engineering and lab management to enhance testing methods and processes.
AS A RESEARCH TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:
Build prototype compressors using a variety of hand / power tools and specialized equipment including ovens, presses, band saws, mills, lathes, and welding equipment
Test prototype compressors using a variety of equipment including calorimeters, mass flow stands, and life test stands
Build prototype HVAC/R systems and test using psychrometric testing chambers
Effectively install and utilize power analyzers and other data acquisition equipment to collect critical information for projects
Evaluate new technologies and work with engineering to find new and creative ways to test and collect data needed
Communicate project status with engineering teams and lab management and attend project meetings on a regular basis
Perform general tasks such as, but not limited to; lab equipment maintenance and builds, shipping and receiving duties that require the use of a forklift, trips to local machine shops and parts suppliers using the lab truck, and other tasks required for projects or for the department.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
HVAC/R Certificate or Associates Degree
Five (5+) years experience in HVAC/R testing lab or field work
Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Advanced HVAC/R Systems or Systems Control knowledge
Experience with variable speed drives
Welding, Machining, Fabrication experience
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Tools
