Summary/Objective:
The Certified Nursing Assistant is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist. The aide practices within the scope of their practice defined by the State Board of Nursing.
Adheres to written and oral instructions for patient care as indicated by the registered nurse on duty.
Assists the patient with all aspects of personal care, ambulation, and positioning as required.
Performs housekeeping services that are necessary for the health and safety of the patient/family/caregiver.
Provides guidance to the family/caregiver regarding personal care of the patient.
Attends and participates in shift report, in-services, department, and agency meetings.
Follows the guidelines for universal precautions when providing patient care and demonstrates proper techniques in application of infection control standards.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the dying process.
Demonstrates excellent listening skills.
Maintains strict confidentiality of patient/family/caregiver information.
Provides for a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and employees.
Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management.
Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service.
