This role is on Blackboard's Product Design team, which has a proven track record of driving excellence and efficiency in Product Development as well as high-quality products to our customer base. As Manager, Content Design, you will be responsible for planning and executing a cohesive content strategy. You'll manage projects and direct reports who are part of a dynamic team of Content Designers responsible for maintaining product help content (both written and video), producing in-product directional text, and writing product release notes. Additionally, you will track and report project results in a way that is meaningful to stakeholders across the team and company.
The Candidate:
Has strong oral and written communication skills with a depth of experience as a manager of web content
Has a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Is familiar with the entire SDLC (ideally Agile methodologies) and the role that content plays in associated processes and deliverables
Has light experience managing a team of direct reports with a proven track record of successfully achieving demonstratable goals
Has experience building relationships and motivating others through demonstrated integrity, trust, and humility
Has experience creating and leading process improvements across cross-functional teams
Is proficient in coordinating and tracking complex projects across multiple geographically distributed teams
Has hired, developed, and coached small- to medium-sized teams with an inclusive mindset and management style
Is highly organized and can prioritize and manage multiple projects and team members at the same time
Has a history of using data and analytics to inform successful project management decisions
Can consolidate complex information to provide meaningful communication to stakeholders at all levels and fluidly adjust style to work effectively with individuals at any level of seniority, from technical experts to business leaders
Works “across the aisle” to form solid cross-functional partnerships with key stakeholders across the company
Has a deep understanding of content management systems, web content strategy, user experience design, and web development
Has excellent editorial, writing, and analytical skills
Can understand complex technical concepts to assist team members when needed
An understanding of content creation in a Drupal-based web system is preferred
Experience in the education industry or with e-learning technologies is a plus
