The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Research Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Shuda in the Cancer Virology Program. The Shuda Lab investigates the mechanism of tumorigenesis induced by human polyomavirus and human papillomaviruses. The successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks supporting the research laboratory: conducting molecular and cell biological experiments related to cancer virology, data collection, and record keeping. Basic laboratory maintenance will also be required: preparation of lab solutions, lab inventory keeping, equipment maintenance, ordering of lab supplies, and other support for lab personnel as needed. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant field as well as a general understanding of biology, chemistry, and lab procedures. Experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular cloning, as well as wet laboratory experience is preferred.
