Faculty (Open Rank), Neurocognitive - Neurology, McGovern Medical School (Finance)



McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Department of Neurology , is seeking full-time, experienced neurologists, tenure-track (depending on qualifications), at the Assistant, Associate, and Professor rank for our clinical division of Dementia and Memory Disorders. The division has outpatient clinics, inpatient consultative services, a very robust clinical, translational, and basic research program, and educates medical and graduate students, neurology residents, and fellows.

Located in the Texas Medical Center in the heart of Houston, this position is affiliated with McGovern Medical School, the 11th largest medical school in the US. The successful candidate will participate in inpatient/outpatient clinical care, research, and educational programs in Dementia and Memory Disorders. The successful candidate should have completed a dementia or cognitive neurology fellowship and be board-certified by the ABPN in Neurology. Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas.

Clinical responsibilities would include up to four(4) days of clinic a week providing expert clinical care for patients with cognitive memory issues, including the diagnosis, treatment, and management of neurodegenerative disorders. As an academic center, research and teaching are integral to our mission, and we welcome candidates with an interest in exploring clinical trials, grant applications, or teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited neurology residency.
  • Completion of ACGME fellowship in dementia, memory disorders or cognitive neurology, or a strong interest in cognitive memory issues.
  • ABPN board certification or eligibility in Neurology.
  • Texas medical license (or eligible to be licensed).
  • Excellent clinical skills, including history-taking, physical examination, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery, and service, have the potential to be outstanding in their field of expertise and share an interest in fulfilling the common goals of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Academic rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
