Who We Are
Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) provides the educational outreach functions for Cornell University's role as New York State's Land Grant University. This mission is to put knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability and social well-being. The Cornell Vegetable Program (CVP) provides educational programs and information to growers, processors and agri-business professionals, arming them with the knowledge to profitably produce and market safe and healthful vegetable crops, contributing to the viability of farms and the economic well-being of New York State. The Cornell Vegetable Program is supported, in part, by thirteen county Cornell Cooperative Extensions of Western New York: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Monroe, Niagara, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an individual that is passionate about supporting the vegetable industry of Western New York. This position will work directly with farmers, Extension Specialists and Cornell faculty to conduct applied research that will advance understanding and adoption of best management practices in season extension, pest management, soils and cultural techniques. Responsibilities will include collecting samples from farms, entering data, analyzing statistics, writing for publications, social media presence and public presentations.
Roles and Responsibilities as a member of the Cornell Vegetable Program Team:
This position is full-time (39 hours/week) and will be located in in the Cornell Vegetable Program region. This is a one year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
