Cabin Crew Member - Africa (Transportation)



The Cabin Crew Member will is responsible for the passengers' comfort, welfare, safety. The incumbent performs all cabin services in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as all FAA regulations. The incumbent ensures all cargo is loaded and secured in accordance with company policies and aircraft flight manuals. In an emergency, the Cabin Crew Member is the primary person to control the passenger cabin and works with the pilot in command (PIC) and second in command (SIC) to ensure safe and orderly conduct of flight operations.

This is a position position in Africa for 90 days. The Cabin Crew Member will not leave the country within those 90 days unless he/she has a case of emergency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - 

  • Attends daily pre and post flight mission briefings.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading passengers, food and supplies.
  • Responsible to the PIC for all operational matters.
  • Responsible for ensuring that personal flight and duty times are maintained within limitations.
  • Assists PIC in preflight of cabin area, aircraft emergency equipment, aircraft first aid kit, and “go bag.”
  • Performs preflight requirements to ensure that all aircraft safety equipment is installed, functional, and in proper working order.
  • As delegated by the PIC, briefs all passengers and ensures that Helicopter Safety Briefing Cards are located above each passenger seat and available for reference by the passengers. Briefing will include location and operation of emergency equipment.
  • Responsible for obtaining actual weight of passengers, baggage, and cargo to the maximum extent possible for weight and balance and load manifest. In the event actual weight cannot be obtained, interrogated/solicited weight will be used in accordance with Air Carrier Operations Manual.
  • Loads, secures, and unloads cargo. Notifies PIC and provides necessary HAZMAT documentation in the event that Hazardous Material Cargo is presented for transport.
  • Assists PIC/SIC with load manifest preparation as required and/or requested.
  • Maintains safety and security of cabin during normal procedures, emergency procedures, and passenger emergency evacuation.
  • Ensures that the proper number of life vests and life rafts are onboard, functional, and in proper working order if the aircraft is scheduled for extended overwater flight. Ensures that passengers are briefed on water egress, the location, and how to operate the aircraft extended overwater survival equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned, delegated, and/or requested by the PIC.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - 

  • United States Secret Security Clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is a requirement for obtaining U.S. Secret Security Clearance. Candidates with a current active Secret clearance, or who have recently had active clearance, takes priority. Candidates selected for this position will receive an offer of employment which is conditional upon satisfying all pre-employment requirements, including obtaining United States Secrete Clearance. Columbia will orchestrate and pay for securing the clearance, a process that can take up to six months.   • Medical approval to work in Africa is required by the Department of Defense. Your medical review will occur in advance of deployment to Africa if selected for this position.
  • Candidates selected for this position will receive an offer of employment, which is conditional upon possessing or obtaining a current valid U.S. passport.

  • Pull 101 to 250 pounds 45-66% of the time
  • Pull over 250 pounds 33% of the time
  • Bending, squatting, standing, walking, reaching above shoulders, below shoulders and at shoulders, repetitive use of arms, wrist, and hands 67% to 100% of the time, frequently while lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling loads and weights above.
  • Works outside in extreme heat or cold, in frequently dusty, noisy environments, on uneven surfaces, during day and night work hours.
  • Flight in unpressurized aircraft operating at or below 50K feet altitude.
  • Candidates with prior experience including Part 91 and Part 135 FAA regulations, aircraft weight and balance criteria, operating in active war theater including first-aid and survival techniques, preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, create focus in areas of poor scope definition or where there are issues, and be solution oriented but committed to consistency and process.
  • Ability to work under minimal direction while keeping within the limitations of designated authorities and abilities while frequently exercising regular use of good judgment.
  • Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as a U.S. Person
