A Day in the Life
This role is a key member of Process Excellence team serving as the agent for cultural change through leading and
facilitating Lean Sigma Projects and other Continuous Improvement activities. The Project Manager will be
responsible for developing, advocating, and enabling the tools and methodologies to drive Americas Distribution
process excellence. These tools may include, but are not limited to Lean, Six Sigma, project management, and other
improvement techniques.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving culture change and innovation towards Operations Excellence (OpEx), deliver process improvement and
other transformations within Americas Distribution. Working with OpEx Teams from other Geographies to share best
practice and align in OpEx strategies.
Accountable for successful Lean Sigma project execution, delivering projects on time and achieving pre-defined
goals. Build foundations at Americas Distribution for Continuous Improvement; ensure projects and other
improvement activities follow structured problem solving methodology (A3, PDCA, etc.)
Advocate and influence cultural and process changes across Distribution, this includes careful project
selection to achieve best results.
Lead Lean Sigma projects as assigned by the Distribution Management Team.
Mentor Lean Sigma projects across Distribution; identifying and working to remove barriers that slow
or prevent the successful completion of a Lean Sigma project.
Plan, support, and provide Lean Sigma training to others in Distribution Organization.
Working with management team to adopt MOS (Medtronic Operations System) in Americas
Distribution, lead teams in creating new work environments such as cells (Cell Operating System).
Master all technical skills associated with Six Sigma, Lean Sigma, and other appropriate improvement
techniques.
Develop and share new tools and techniques to further the advancement of Lean Sigma in
Distribution.
Working with functional management and process owners to develop, maintain, and improve on local
KPI's.
Complete Medtronic Lean Sigma DMAIC training and Medtronic Lean Sigma Advanced Statistics
training. Certified as a Medtronic Black Belt.
Attend and assess project review sessions.
Passionately drive process excellence visibility and awareness across the businesses.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Nice to Have:
Master degree or Black Belt Certification preferred.
3+ years Operations experience (Mfg., Distribution/Supply Chain preferred).
3+ years of experience in Coaching and Mentoring.
Consistent application of project management and extensive application of continuous process
improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent.
Lean/Six Sigma training and certification
Engineering and Operations back ground from a highly competitive industry/environment.
Proven leadership skills and business acumen; performance-driven. Critical Thinker
Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to interface and influence at all
organizational levels.
Excellent understanding of data analytic and statistical tools, capable of explaining the underlying
concepts and principles.
Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple demanding tasks.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, work independently under pressure and maintain positive,
enthusiastic attitude.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
