Patient Services Aide - University Hospital (Healthcare)

We are seeking a Patient Services Aide to:

  • Transport patients to and from nursing units and various therapy/laboratory areas while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
  • Utilize information systems hardware in conjunction with the Patient Transport information system to acquire and record transactional records regarding all transport requests.
  • Document pertinent transport information on daily log sheets and obtain signatures from clinical staff for all cancelations, reschedules, and confirmations of patient drop-offs. 
Education :
Minimum – High school graduate or equivalent

Work Experience:
Preferred – Relevant patient care experience in a healthcare environment

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum – CPR certification or the ability to receive certification within 60 days of hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively (using both written and oral communication with a variety of individuals that includes hospital staff, nurses, physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Displays efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of computerized Transport Tracking system.
  • Ability to stand and walk long distances frequently throughout work shift.

Physical Requirements:
Heavy: Ability to lift up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Schedule:
This is position is 25% FTE, or scheduled for 10 hours per week.  The position is to be scheduled for every other weekend, either 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  If needed or wanted, additional hours are available during the week for this position.  Hours may vary depending on the operational needs of the department.
