RN – Inpatient - Heart and Vascular Progressive Care - 90%FTE, Day/Night - University Hospital (4589) (Healthcare)
We are seeking a Registered Nurse: - Join our fast-paced surgical unit that offers an opportunity to advance your nursing skills and become part of a wonderful team. - The opportunity to work on a 15- bed unit with both general and intermediate level patients. - Challenging patient populations, including: abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repairs, both open and endovascular, carotid endarterectomies, limb saving lytic therapies, lower extremity bypasses and amputees. - Nurses who work as a team and help one another succeed. - Nurses who participate in shared governance, with a unit-based council to help support and drive quality improvement initiatives and lead practice change. - Nurses who are highly engaged in acquiring new skills and integrating evidence-based nursing practices into the unit culture - An environment that is patient-and-family focused including daily care team visits with the entire team but most important the patient as an active participant. Education: Minimum - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Preferred - Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Work Experience: Minimum - One (1) year relevant clinical experience. Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification. Preferred - ACLS Certification (may complete within six months of hire). Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area - Experience in teaching patients and families - Excellent communication skills - Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members. Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. W ork Schedule: This is an Day/Night position, with variable (8) eight and (12) hour shifts between the hours of: 0700-1930; 1900-0730. Weekend and holiday rotation required. Hours may vary based on operational needs of department.
