Lead / Sr Lead Project Engineer (Project Management)

If you are a Lead/Sr Lead Project Engineer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will work as part of a project team to assess and develop innovative solutions for the application of advanced compression technologies.  Primary responsibilities will be to utilize critical thinking skills to create and follow through on analysis / test plans for short-term learning cycles, working through compressor development issues with structured problem solving skills and communicating outcomes / next steps to team members and upper level personnel.  You will have a high degree of creativity and be able to work in collaboration with design engineers, lab technicians, advance manufacturing engineers as well as procurement and materials team members.

AS A LEAD/SR LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 

  • Evaluate new technologies, identify the key challenges to address and develop plans to assess.

  • Develop project schedules and coordinate design and testing to maintain the schedules

  • Work with design engineers to develop compressor designs for conceptual analysis or prototype testing.

  • Submit build / test requests to research lab and work directly with technicians in support of achieving request objectives

  • Submit disclosures for intellectual property based on ideas which may arise during technology assessment / problem solving

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance for other team members

  • Communicate development results / progress to team members and upper level personne

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering 

  • Minimum seven (7) years of engineering experience with rotating machinery or relevant industry experience

  • Proven success demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with multiple functional groups

  • Must be self motivated and be able to define and follow a schedule

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in an engineering environment  

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  

  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, particularly in scroll compressor design and analysis.

  • Understanding of the refrigeration cycle, thermodynamics, and HVAC systems

  • Knowledge and experience with structured problem solving methodologies

About our Location
The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
