Recruitment Specialist (Human Resources)



The Recruiting Specialist is responsible for delivering all facets of recruiting success throughout the organization. This will be achieved through the development of strategic recruiting plans, employing traditional sourcing strategies and resources as well as developing new, creative recruiting ideas. This critical role will ensure we hire the best possible talent to fill our vacancies.  This position will be in our Naugatuck office with interoffice and local travel required. 

Responsibilities: 

 Strategy Development and Execution 

  • Develop and execute a recruiting strategy that successfully staffs open positions timely with qualified applicants.  Strategy must have defined success measures which should be reported on regularly.    
  • Partner with internal business partners to determine staffing needs, qualifications / needed skill sets, timing, etc.  Use information gathered to regularly update recruiting strategy. 
  • Assist in the development and ownership of a retention strategy which leverages insights from the recruiting and hiring process. 

Recruiting and Hiring 

  • Own and execute our company recruiting and hiring process, from beginning to end utilizing the Company Applicant Tracking platform.  This includes but is not limited to developing and maintaining a pipeline of candidates, candidate screening, background verifications, the offer process, and exit interviewing. 
  • Leverage the Company Applicant Tracking platform and other mediums to post / advertise open positions including websites, social media, and traditional methods (newspaper, etc.).  Track job posting activity to ensure our jobs are being looked at and refresh postings as needed.   
  • Partner with hiring managers to conduct interviews that assess candidate's ability to meet the needs of open positions based on skill set and competency.  Assist in the development of screening assessments for most positions which can be administered to evaluate candidates' skill sets.  Assist hiring managers in offer process. 

Networking / Relationship Building 

  • Work with internal business partners to understand hiring needs and to ensure candidates are quality hires who are here long-term.   
  • Build a solid network throughout the community and demographic where we operate which can be leveraged for successful job candidates. This should include industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, colleges, social media, and existing employees. 
  • Represent the organization at internal and community-based events, job fairs, school presentations, college events and community work force development opportunities. 

Administrative / Record Keeping / Metrics / Reporting   

  • Leverage existing company process and tools for recruiting and hiring.  Update tools and processes as needed. 
  • Track and assist all applicants as they move through our hiring process.  This includes reviewing resumes to evaluate if they meet the position requirements and conduct prescreening interviews, assisting in interviewing and selecting employees, and performing required reference  and background checks.  Prepare and present employee job offer packages. 
  • Maintain all pertinent applicant and interview data in the Company Applicant Tracking platform. 
  • Conduct exit interviews with terminating employees for valuable insights. 
  • Monitor the recruiting, hiring, retention dashboard and analytics which includes data on cost-per-hire, time to hire, employee turnover rate, employee turnover cost, preventable employee turnover, etc.  Include additional measurements that aid you in continuous improvement, cost control, and hiring great people. 

Other: 

  • Complete other Human Resources projects and tasks as required. 

Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and approved combination of experience and education 
  • Must have two to three years of corporate recruiting experience with a similar demographic and roles 
  • Must have a solid command of Microsoft Office 365 including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Must have a minimum of two years' experience in working withing an Applicant Tracking platform. 
  • Previous Human Services and Transportation industry experience a plus  
  • Proven social media expertise specifically in the recruiting space on various platforms including Facebook, Snap Chat, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
