Eye and Tissue Post Natal Recovery Technician (Healthcare)
Recover post natal tissue. Obtain authorization and conduct donor risk assessment interview. Responsible for suitability determination of donor, aseptic surgical tissue procurements, packaging at recovery and shipping post-recovery (if applicable).
Education Requirements:
High school diploma required.
Associates degree or higher in Life Sciences preferred.
Experience:
Experience in:
Healthcare/medical field, or
one year of hospital experience in a clinical area, or
one year in a child birth related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Medical terminology and/or familiarity with medical diagnosis, medical record review preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills required, including communicating with diverse individuals.
Must be adaptable and flexible to change with the ability to think critically in solving problems with a continuous focus on customer service.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, and data entry required.
Must be detail oriented, and have the ability to remain accurate while under pressure.
Must be highly organized with the ability to think logically, manage time effectively, prioritize and multi-task.
Must have patience and maintain focus through interruptions and emotional stress.
Must have professionalism to handle confidential information, and make decisions.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment strongly preferred.
Must be self-motivated and reliable.
Must have a valid NYS Drivers license and reliable transportation.
Travel required.
Must have flexibility to meet the demands of the schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Manage the recovery and all recovery related activities at the recovery location of the donation.
2. Participate in 24 hour call as a member of the tissue and eye procurement team.
3. Oversee and perform post natal tissue recovery activities from recovery and packaging through shipping.
4. Perform a review of all available donor records and a physical assessment of the donor in order to determine the suitability of the donor for recovery.
5. Collect all required/necessary data concerning authorized donors from all sources available (medical records, nursing staff, physicians, etc.), and complete all case related paperwork.
6. Enter all necessary information into the donor electronic medical record system.
7. Ensure compliance with AATB, State, Federal, and Unyts standards for post natal tissue recovery.
8. Secure quality blood samples for serological testing.
