Designer (Creative Design)
SUMMARY
Perry Ellis International, a fashion and lifestyle company, distributor, and licensor of a broad line of high-quality men's and women's apparel and accessory. Our corporate headquarters are located in Miami, Florida. We also have offices located in New York, Portland, Tampa, this position is for our Miami Doral office. We are looking for an exceptionally creative, energetic Designer for men for our Latin Brand, Resort Lifestyle line, and Sleepwear to join our team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the entire product design process to include market research, inspiration boards, designing, sketching, and fit.
Responsible for researching global markets in order to identify new trends, fabrics, techniques.
Research Local Markets to identify consumer demand and understand brand competition
Work closely and direct Graphic Team to create and develop prints- scale, layout, color combinations, repeats, etc.
Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action).
Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to the line, new concepts, etc.
Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentations.
Ensures that the product is consistent with market trends as well as a business strategy.
Responsible for fabric, trim, print, and embroidery selection.
Works collaboratively with product coordinators, sourcing, tech department, graphic team, and merchandising to bring the vision to commercially viable product decisions.
Responsible for staying within the Time and Action Calendar.
Responsible for design presentations to Sales Force, Merchandising, and Customers.
Responsible for lab-dips, knit-downs, strike-offs, and handloom approvals.
If applicable, work closely with the Licensing team for alignment
In addition to our respective lines, design and develop for Private Label brands and other in-house lines that need assistance
Help direct interns and assistant designers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Strong computer knowledge
Ability to learn how to design through new/advanced technology. (3D Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, PDM, Concept Board)
Strong design and conceptual skills
Ability to design concepts with a strong sense of style and color
Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery, and trim
Strong organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree in Fashion Design or related field
Five or more years of design experience
