Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports, prepare checks and direct deposits, reconcile accounts to the ledger
Essential Functions:
Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments as needed.
Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; preparing checks.
Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Maintains historical records via the electronic document management interface.
Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Education & Experience:
3+ years accounting experience
2 year business degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
Basic knowledge of accounting functions and terminology required
Strong problem solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
Knowledge of accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
Strong communication skills (oral and written)
Demonstrates consistency in values, principles, and work ethic
Detail-oriented, professional attitude, reliable
Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, ERP experience a plus
Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, ability to be proactive
Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
