Senior Director - IT Strategy, Planning & Operations (Finance)

Job Description
Primary Function of Position:

The Sr. Director, Strategy, Planning, and Operations is a senior leader reporting to the CIO, responsible for driving strategic alignment, operational excellence, and value realization across the IT function. This role oversees annual and long-range planning processes, ensures governance of project management function, leads project change management initiatives, and delivers data-driven insights to support informed decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. IT Strategy, Planning & Governance

  • Lead the development and execution of multi-year IT strategic plans aligned with enterprise goals.
  • Facilitate annual IT operating and long-range planning (LRM/AOP) in partnership with Finance, business, and functional stakeholders.
  • Drive strategic alignment across IT investments, roadmaps, and programs.
  • Oversee IT governance forums, investment reviews, and demand intake processes to ensure prioritization transparency.

2. Financial & Value Management
  • Partner with IT Finance to manage budgets, forecasts, and portfolio investments.
  • Provide visibility into cost drivers, ROI, and resource allocation.
  • Build and execute value realization frameworks to measure impact and optimize IT spend.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives and software asset management (SAM) activities to improve vendor performance and efficiency.

3. Portfolio, Program Governance & Change Execution
  • Improve project management playbooks, project management tools, and ensure consistent application of PMO standards, health reporting, and risk/outcome tracking.
  • Drive organizational change management (OCM) efforts in collaboration with project teams to ensure smooth adoption of new tools and processes.
  • Align program execution with speed, scalability, and business value realization.

4. Communications, Adoption & Impact Demonstration
  • Develop and execute a cohesive IT communications strategy for internal stakeholders and business partners.
  • Craft clear messaging to articulate IT's vision, priorities, and value across channels such as executive updates, town halls, and digital platforms.
  • Promote technology adoption and effective use through awareness campaigns, training, and engagement.
  • Establish storytelling and metric frameworks to demonstrate IT's outcomes and contributions to enterprise success.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in IT strategy, business operations, program management, or related roles within large-scale corporate environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives and operational teams.
  • Deep understanding of IT business operations, planning cycles, and financial processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills-able to influence, negotiate, and build relationships at all levels.
  • Organizationally savvy with the ability to navigate complex structures and drive alignment.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with experience using data to inform decision-making and performance measurement.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead teams, fostering collaboration and development.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Successful candidates will possess an enterprise mindset, start with the customer in mind, have a strong sense of ownership, and a growth mindset.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The target salary ranges are listed.

Base Salary Range Region 1: $241,000 USD - $361,600 USD
Base Salary Range Region 2: $204,900 USD - $307,300 USD
Shift: Day
Workplace Type: Set Schedule - This job will be onsite weekly, the percentage of onsite work will be defined by the leader. Apply
