Optical Systems Engineer (Engineering)

We are seeking an Optical Systems Engineer who will be responsible for systems engineering activities for optical metrology instruments. You will:
• Develop new products and manage lifecycle of existing products
• Manage projects, leading a project team of multi-disciplinary engineers and technicians
• Manage risk, ensure products meet customer needs and that projects are on budget, scope and schedule
• Have experience with lens design and optical system analysis
• Act as the technical expert for product development transition to manufacturing, in support of manufacturing engineering and in contract development/tenders
Position Requirements:
Education, Experience, and Competencies:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics or Math
Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience, position level will vary based on level of experience, education/degree
Familiarity with optical design software such as Zemax OpticStudio, FRED, CodeV) and lens design
Knowledge of optical physics, including wave propagation, polarization, diffraction and optical aberrations
Organized, planful and able to effectively prioritize in order to drive projects to completion on scope, schedule and budget
Analytical reasoning skills and intellectually curious
Driven to achieve, collaborative and an effective communicator, particularly the ability to ensure accountability, effectively document and explain complex technical information, and for achieving project milestone across multi-disciplinary teams
Proficiency in mechanical design software (preferably SolidWorks)
Knowledge of metrology principles and familiarity with the calculation of uncertainty in measurement
Experience programming mathematical physics applications
Knowledge of radiometry, laser physics, and/or optical coating design
Experience with diffractive optical elements
Proven ability to bring products, particularly optical systems, to market
Opto-mechanical or opto-electrical design experience
