Group SMERF Sales Manager (Marketing)



Job Description Summary

The Sales Manager is a highly motivated individual who will solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections, networking and written communication. She/he will prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and will be responsible for contact and activity management for all accounts under their responsibility.

Job Description

Principle duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:

Operational/Functional

  • Responsible for securing all wedding, family reunion and sports team blocks.
  • This is a one stop shop position, were the seller will be responsible for creating the blocks, opening the blocks in our reservation site, creating and distributing the group resumes, handling individual reservation requests for the blocks.
  • Build solid relationship with other banquet venues for referrals
  • Knowledge of Opera PMS, Amadeus FDC and Microsoft Office preferred
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers.
  • Prepare and present effective status and period end reports, maintain well-organized documentation and coordination of customer service requirements with hotel operations staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and hotel procedures, products and competition, including their strengths and weaknesses, to continually improve sales strategies and achieve goals.
  • Professional and positive communication to both guests and fellow employees.
  • Attend weekly Sales, Revenue and Department Head Meetings.
  • Execute additional projects as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.

  • Some College plus 2-3 years sales or marketing related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Related degree preferred. 
  • Prior hotel sales experience preferred. 
  • Must speak fluent English. 
  • Track record of delivering exceptional guest and client experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrable expertise in analysis and action taking
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office required.  Delphi and Opera PMS experience a plus
  • Ability to travel to attend workshops, trade shows, conventions, etc.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
