ASSET PROTECTION INVESTIGATOR (Nonexempt) (Security)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To assist in the investigation of policy violations, safety incidents, and crimes as directed. This person conducts audits and general administrative asset protection duties. This person also performs general safety and security functions as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Reports directly to the Corporate Asset Protection & Safety Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepares accurate reports and forms as applicable. Reports all incidents to the appropriate Managers or Supervisors.
2. Ensures internal audits and investigations are conducted with integrity and completed in a timely manner.
3. Takes an active role in reporting, preventing, detecting, investigating, and resolving internal and external investigations.
4. Performs security and safety inspections as directed.
5. Maintains confidentiality of information.
6. Receives work assignments and instructions.
7. Answers questions. Communicates with management, co-workers, program participants, and the public.
8. Provides leadership necessary to maintain a safe working environment throughout the company.
9. May be responsible for Asset Protection Analyst functions related to access control systems, GPS tracking for transportation, alarm reporting, investigation, case tracking, civil demand filing, and other exception reporting systems as identified for the investigator position.
10. May be responsible for the maintenance of the GIOC badge system and distribution and collection of all company badges.
11. Performs other tasks as directed.
12. Works overtime as required.
13. Drives on company business as required.
14. Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
15. Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
16. Follows all company policies and procedures.
17. Promotes and demonstrates cooperation and teamwork. Assists and shares knowledge and information with other employees as needed.
18. Uses good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness.
19. Works with, trains, and/or acts as a good example for program participants receiving training at Goodwill.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. Two (2) years prior experience in security, military, law enforcement, or retail sales operations (or any combination thereof) or any current student with a minimum of 12 completed criminal justice college units with a grade of "C" or better.
3. Ability to work multiple store locations and flexible hours with ability to be on call 24 hours.
4. Ability to work with minimum supervision.
5. Valid California driver's license, liability insurance, and DMV record which is acceptable to Goodwill's insurance company.
6. Must be 21 years of age.
