Senior Electrical Engineer - DC-DC (Project Management)
This role has been designated as ‘Office', which means you will primarily work from an HPE office.
Job Description:
Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, evaluating electronic components, circuits, firmware, software for electronic equipment. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis specifications and reliability. Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems/projects where analysis of situations or data requires in depth evaluation of multiple factors. Exercises significant independent judgement within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method of accomplishing tasks and achieving objectives. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross functional initiatives. May provide mentoring and guidance to peers and juniors. Acts as subject matter expert in providing direction and guidance to process improvements and policy matters. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in architecture development and assessment. Evaluates reliability of materials, properties, designs, and techniques used in production. May directly support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.
Responsibilities:
Leads multiple project teams of other electrical hardware engineers from both internal and outsourced development partners that are responsible for all stages of electrical hardware design and development for complex products, solutions, and platforms, including design, validation, tooling and testing.
Manages and expands relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on electrical hardware design and development.
Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality.
Provides domain-specific expertise and overall electrical/electronic hardware and platform leadership and perspective to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
Drives innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities in the electrical hardware design organization.
Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members
Design and Develop Mother Board and Peripheral Board Power Solutions for Servers, Storage and Networking Products.
Main focus being single-phase and multi-phase DC-DC converters, Protection, Monitoring, and Reporting Circuits
Work with solution suppliers, ODMs and Power Supply manufacturers to identify, implement and sustain power solutions
Analyze failures, provide solutions, work with suppliers on implementation of solutions
Review and respond to supplier's specification deviation requests
Specify, Identify, Test and Qualify alternate components
Work closely with system design and test teams in implementing and validating successful power solutions
Work closely with product engineering and quality teams in implementing and sustaining power solutions
Design, develop innovative firmware, software solutions for improving design, development, validation, sustaining tools for power solutions
Responsible for designing, developing, modifying, evaluating electronic components, circuits, firmware, software for electronic equipment
Power DC-DC architect for server/storage CPU/GPU/DDR and peripherals multi-phase/single phase DC-DC voltage regulators.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10 or more years relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills:
Using electrical design tools and software packages. Cadence Allegro Viewer, VR test tool, SIMPLIS simulation preferred.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Experience in overall architecture of electronic hardware for products and solutions.
Designing and integrating electronic components, integrated circuitry, and algorithms into overall architecture
Evaluating and proposing forms of empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate component, circuit, and hardware designs and thermal/emissions management
Excellent verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at senior management levels.
7+ years of experience in Power Solutions Design, Development, Product Engineering, Quality Control Role
DC-DC converter technology design and development experience
Knowledge of analog and digital controllers and circuits
Knowledge of Semiconductor devices and processes, Magnetics, Passive components
Ability to understand business impact of technical decisions
Firmware, Software experience preferred
Server, Network server, Storage server architecture knowledge preferred
Knowledge of Intel and AMD VR requirements
