Mechanical Designer Core Responsibilities

• Prepare fully dimensioned and tolerance component drawings, assembly drawings, layouts, and bills of materials (BOM).
• Work with Design Engineering to ensure projects adhere to timelines and meet cost objectives.
• Assist Design Engineers in when researching purchased components.
• Create solid model file for manufacture by Tool Room.
• Work with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturability.
• Update drawings through Engineering Change Implementation Letter (ECI).
• Maintain & update all appropriate documentation in Engineering Folders.

Mechanical Designer Attributes

• Ability to work in a highly efficient manner with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to work well in fast paced, flexible team environment.

Mechanical Designer Job Qualifications

• AS degree in drafting, design or similar discipline.
• 3+ years' experience working on design projects from concept stage.
• Extensive experience with Inventor and AutoCad required.
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)

Mechanical Designer Recommended Skill Sets

• Degreed mechanical, manufacturing, or similar engineering genre
• Have Technical working knowledge of & apply / use skills with guidance as related to:
• Demonstrated execution of process or product change management
• Cost analysis/cost modeling
• Project Management
• Organizational and planning skills
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification
• Metallic Materials & Processing Technologies
• Equipment development /build activities
• GDT fundamentals-design discussions
• Process development & design practices
• Process validation practices (GMP)
• Basic Statistical process control
• Product design & DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly)
• Risk analysis including use of FMEA
• Inventor or AutoCad
• Engineering Degree with 5 + yrs of experience in respective field or, Associate Degree (or extended mfg engineering training) with 12+ years' experience leading manufacturing development activities
• Design Engineering development background
• Plastics /metal manufacturing development background
