Infusion Nurse (Education)
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides on-site patient care and infusion services to all patients, including coordination of care with physician, other staff members and ancillary services when needed.
2. Provides patient teaching to all new patients regarding disease, treatment information, and available support services and counseling options as indicated.
3. Triages telephone calls, resolve patient issues and concerns, review problems with physician team and take appropriate action.
4. Administers and evaluates new and existing programs/protocols.
5. Maintains accurate patient charts/records and document nursing actions and functions.
6. Checks all doses of intravenous admixtures prepared by technicians.
7. Maintains hematology/oncology expertise at all times.
8. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of biotherapy, chemotherapy, and infusion therapy drugs and their potential side effects.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:Travel will be required to cover census needs at all locations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/A
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
2. Possess a valid and current Arkansas state nursing license.
3. BLS Certification
4. Chemo Certification
5. Maintain required number of continuing education units (CEUs) as specified by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing
6. Ongoing education toward ONS certification
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
1. 2-5 Years clinical experience in direct patient care.
2. Excellent computer and other basic office equipment skills.
3. Expertise in IV therapy skills and injections.
