Benefits Specialist (Finance)

IMMI is seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team to have an intricate role to develop, implement, and support for team member benefits and leaves. This position is responsible for administrating and managing benefits, ensuring benefit program administrative compliance, analyzing benefit trends, and providing recommendations. This position will also provide exceptional customer service to our team members, benefit vendors, and brokers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits Administration:

  • Analyze current benefits, evaluate usage, services, cost, and competitive trends in benefits programs to provide bench market data and recommend changes which may establish more competitive benefit programs.
  • Monitor and analyze administrative cost of benefit programs and recommend cost containment strategies including alternative methods for administration and funding.
  • Review, verify, reconcile and balance billing for group health, and any other form of billing that may fall within the scope of benefits.
  • Work with the company's benefit broker and third-party administrator regarding team members benefit requests including life events, employee status changes, and new hire information.
  • Serve as a primary contact for the company benefits plan broker and vendors.
  • Oversee and maintain employee benefit records through company benefit technology platform.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for benefit processes.
  • Team member experience coordination including identifying opportunities to promote wellness and other initiatives that result in increased resources for mental and physical well-being.
  • Prepare and distribute written and verbal information to inform team members of benefit programs.  
  • Conduct team member meeting to explain benefit programs and provide training to team members on benefit plans including new hire, annual, and life events.
  • ACA reporting

 

Leave of Absence Administration

  • Communicate with team members regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules.
  • Ensures team member are aware and understand their responsibilities and any documentation and notice required to qualify for a leave.
  • Manage the FMLA lave administration process from the team member's initial request to return to work. This may include gathering and completing all require paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leas as FMLA qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent, reduced schedule, and continuous leaves.
  • Enter leave time in the time management system (UKG).
  • Maintain communication with team members on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work.; relay communication between team member and their managers.
  • Advise managers and team members regarding leaves including company policy, short-term and long-term disability claims.
  • Ensure company is in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodations laws including FMLA, COBRA, ADA, state, and local laws.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in human resource, business administration, finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in benefits administration, analyzing healthcare insurance, and other employee benefits. 
  • Previous experience building relationships with vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure effective collaboration, support, and service.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding employee benefits.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret benefits plan options and policy features to a broad audience with variable familiarity of benefits.
  • Experience within HRIS applications including Oracle, UKG, and ADP is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
