Our team is executing a wide array of interesting projects, including new F-35 aircraft hangars, pilot training facilities, GSA building rehabilitations, multi-story offices/barracks, and more. Our multi-discipline team works together to deliver the complete package of Architecture, Structures, Mechanical, Civil and Electrical/Telecommunications engineering. Our team is also executing these projects using cloud hosted B.I.M. techniques, the most innovative design and construction delivery method in use today. This process encourages collaboration within the design team and with the builder (contractor).
DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International seeks a Technical Manager - Mechanical Engineering. The Technical Manager is responsible for a small staff of mechanical engineering professionals (HVAC, Energy & Plumbing) currently in both the Salt Lake City and the Denver offices. The selected candidate will provide technical oversight, staff development, contract management, technical and cost proposal development, project performance and client management for targeted clients.
Responsibilities:
•Staff Oversight and Operational Management
•Performance Management
•Recruitment/Retention
•Resource management and utilization planning and forecasting
•Business development capabilities as a doer-seller; ability to write/support winning technical and cost proposals
•Client facing, primary interface with customers to include our contractor partners on design-build projects
•Collaborate with technical experts and mechanical engineering managers and staff from other Michael Baker offices around the country
•Some ongoing participation in professional society meetings, etc. developing and maintaining relationships with key clients, teaming partners, and potential staff hires
•Be part of a dynamic team responsible for helping to continue to expand the mechanical engineering practice
•Provide QC and constructability reviews of mechanical engineering packages
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
•Licensed Professional Engineer
•10-15 years of experience in the mechanical design of vertical construction projects in Federal Government facilities, institutional, K-12/Higher Educational facilities, and/or commercial facilities
•Minimum of 5 years successfully leading mechanical engineering teams
•Federal DoD and/or GSA experience (desired)
•Design/Build alternative project delivery experience (desired)
•Detailed knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria related to DoD is preferred
•Prior exposure with building energy modeling and/or building mechanical systems life cycle cost analysis is a plus
•Must be computer literate in mechanical engineering analysis and design software similar to Trane Trace; working knowledge of AutoDesk Revit software would be helpful
•Must be experienced with Microsoft Office tools
•Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
•US Citizen, eligible for security clearance
•Available for periodic travel
